You're fine, don't worry. A lot of people never get an update to their Android device...

 

If you do replace it, seriously consider buying an iPhone if you can afford it, as if regular security updates are important to you you'll get much longer out of one of those than any Android device,

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

You're fine. If you're really concerned, you could always switch to an actively developed/supported custom ROM.

Maybe switch to a custom rom or get a new phone

Realistically you don't need to worry. You aren't likely to have any issues with it in terms of security. You could look into using a custom firmware, but I don't know if any are available for your phone, or if that's something you'd even be interested in.
