Why does android replace folders rather than merging them?

so i find it really odd that even with latest version android 10, we have this inconvenience. Is this a thing with android as a whole or custom ones like Realme UI? i find it hard to believe they can't implement such basic thing

i think Windows has since xp (maybe before but our first home pc back in 2003 was with that so i never used any earlier versions so not entirely sure). is there a good 3rd party file manager which supports it? but i wanna stick with stock ones

i never use 3rd party versions of anything on android unless it's really bad. I had to replace one folder which was an updates version anyway so not a loss and intentional by me but i had to skip many because some pics or files might have got removed

moving stuff around stuff will be easier if merging worked in android. I hope they bring it in future soon, my phone will get android 11 next month hoping for whole lots of improvement but it's unlikely this feature will come

btw raise to wake is also not working on phone and i can't find it in settings, after resetting it, i didn't get the option to enable it like before when i got my phone and had to file for a replacement.

Maybe the new device probably came with newer firmware where they removed that function... anyway settings are manufacturer-specific, no idea where Mi would put it in their UI.

That will be a function of the file manager you use, probably don't want to use the usually crappy one provided with the manufacturer's system layer. The one I use (File manager +) asks to replace or merge.

well, it's the same phone and i got it pretty much on the launch and it has regularly received updates ever since, i mean of late it's been more less frequent but earlier it was like atleast 1 or 2 update month but now they only give an update in like 2 months or so.

well as i said earlier, i want to stick with stock one, because of it's simplicity and don't want the clutter of something duplicate (like 2 apps for literally same thing), it works and fine for most part, i would only look for an alternative if it was abysmal, i mean i don't even go to file manager much unless it's really needed (that too occasionally), i mainly use apps and don't even play single game for several months now even though i have many installed.
