What kind of memory to make an APU shred?

I need to know what king of memory makes an apu do good. I've heard of people who got over 4Ghz ram. what speed, latency, timing and how much of it.

what apu specifically? you generally want to make sure you have dual channel quad rank and memory as fast as the cpu memory controller can manage, with tight timings.

or just use xmp, like 3600MHz for the sweet spot and stuff...

You'd be better off getting a proper dGPU in the first place than going for some crazy expensive memory kit now in an attempt to juice up what is still inherently a low-end, last-gen GPU.

Or wait for DDR5.

to use xmp for 3600, you need to actually get a ram kit rated for 3600 and also a cpu and a motherboard that can run that ram at 3600.

Yes it's possible to use 4000mhz with overclocking in some motherboard, but the result maybe disappointing, not worth the cost.

Rather buy a GPU or a better APU.

3200g. what is quad rank. how fast is the memory controller. how do I get tight timings.

1 ram stick can be single or dual rank. most 8gb sticks are single rank, most 16gb sticks are dual rank. you want two ranks per channel, so you want 4x8gb ram or 2x16gb ram (with dual rank sticks) for max performance. 

3200g is zen+ architecture, so it will struggle with ram frequencies above 3200. I'd try to find a 2x16 3200C14 ram kit.

to get tighther timings, you have to manually tinker with them and find the lowest timings that are stable.
