gpu says 18a 12v rail min; psu has 17a- still ok?

jfarms

I'm trying to upgrade my gtx 210 gpu in an optiplex 7010 for an xp retro gaming build.

the PSU is 265w, 9a 12vb, 17a 12va rails, max 240 w total between the two rails.  CPU is an i3-3770 (77w tdp).  the gtx 620 I want to use to upgrade is 50w tdp.  My only concern is the gtx 620 says it needs minimum 18a on 12v rail, but the GPU only has 17a on the 12v rail.

Is there any chance it will work if I use that gpu with that psu?

I've never cut it so close with a psu/gpu combo before, but I'd love to upgrade the gpu for this windows xp 32bit system I'm putting together for nostalgia/retro gaming without upgrading the psu.

thanks in advance

No, that's bullshit. It would mean the GT620 consumes 216W. It's actually rated for 49W, which is 4A on 12V. In reality, it probably doesn't even reach 49W.

For comparison, the 6xx-era graphics card that actually consumed close to 216W was.. the first GTX Titan. (208W average power consumption).
