1080 Ti low ETH hashrate?

Forking this from another thread as to not derail that one.

 

I used to get the typical (?) 45 MH/s on my card, but lately it's hovering around 35 MH/s. Apparently @Mick Naughty's cards are still going strong at 45, so I was wondering what I could do to investigate.

 

As a summary

Card: Founders Edition 1080 Ti on water

Miner: T-Rex Miner with memory tweak flags that should mimic the pill's effect

Pool: Binance

Afterburner settings: 75% power limit, +125 core, +600 mem

 

If I put the power limit back to 100% it's up to 38-ish. The card is toasty to the touch on the back side, could it be throttling itself or the memory? GPU core temp as at 50-60C, not too bad I would think.

 

Apparently it could be a hardware issue, as per Nvidia

but then apparently one that only affects certain models?

 

TL;DR not enough magic internet money being generated, what can I check?

Hmm I dont do anything special with trex miner. I was doing it directly with the pool and running the pill. But back on nicehash with it doing it automatically.

Running 70% +200 on the core and +600 on mem. You know the memory manufacturer?

Not sure on the memory manufacturer. Pictures I have aren't really readable and I'd have to take the loop apart to check.

 

I tried the pill as well, but that doesn't seem to do much either bumping it to 37 perhaps. Phoenixminer isn't any faster so I guess it's not the miners.

Well, I installed some pending Windows updates and upgraded the Nvidia driver to the latest one and now it seems to work again. 35 MH/s normally and around 43 MH/s at the moment after pilling. Also stole your settings and upped the OC to +200 core, +600 mem at a 70% power limit.

Gpu-z can tell you the manufacture.

@tikkerStrange to hear the hashrate on your 1080 Ti has dropped like that.  I still have 5x 1080 Tis and they are all hashing between 47 to 49mhs with Phoenixminer and the ETHpill.  2 of those 5 cards were the original cards that I started mining with at the beginning of 2018, which is the only reason they haven't been replaced already.  

To answer your question about memory throttle, it's definitely possible.  As many are learning on newer gen 3080s and 3090s (myself included), you can easily throttle memory while having great core temps.  The only way to know is to find a way to monitor those mem temps or to simply replace the thermal pads and see if hash improves.  Either way, good luck man!

Yeah I'll play around with memory clocks a bit to see what effect is has. 43 is already a lot better than 35 though, so I'm happy. I didn't see a difference between phoenixminer and trexminer before updates, but maybe now I can squeeze out a bit more.

I think Phoenix has a smaller dev fee than trex. Excavator is “free”. 
 

All of mine are micron as well.
