Help: Minecraft being laggy on powerful computer

I've got a pretty decent PC: RTX 3070, Core i9-10850K with 32GB of 3000mhz ram, however i get 25fps with medium quality shaders and only about 50fps on vanilla minecraft. I've updated and reinstalled Java and made sure MC and enough allocated RAM(I've also tested without optfine). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Are you plugged into the 3070 or the integrated graphics?
Because the FPS you describe sounds like what I got with my integrated graphics.

Is Windows Power Plan and Nvidia Control Panel set to [High Performance] and [Prefer maximum performance] respectively?? 

 

Have you tried to reduce the rendering distance (chunks I think)??? You are playing at 4K.

I do have both Integrated and dedicated enabled, but i too thought that was the problem but when i disabled the integrated in device manager it continued to perform terribly, and even still task manager shows no usage on the integrated card, and all other games run fine. (I use the integrated card so i can use the display ports on the motherboard.)

I have heard about this for years really. The fact is minecraft is really badly optimised  and sometimes poor fps has to be what it is.

 

also how much ram did you give to the minecraft?

 

i too get only sub 50fps on shaders, but vanilla is more like 400.

also 176 chunk updates? Do you have over 12 render distance? if so why?

also anistropic filtering off?

Yeah tried windows power plan, but no sure where in Nvidea Control panel there is a higher performance, either way all other games perfom fine, its just Minecraft.

It's been gived 8GB out of 32

Anti Aliasing is off and i've tried running the game at a lower render distance.

Yeah, I've got the latest drivers installed and CyberPunk, GTA, Fallout all run smoothly at Ultra 4K etc, this seems to be specific to Minecraft

Go to Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings under Global Settings or just go into Program Settings and see if it finds program.exe for Minecraft Java, either way is the same procedure, go down to Power Management mode and change it to [Prefer Maximum Performance], click apply and open up Minecraft.

That seems to have made it worse, having now dropped to about 8/9FPS

Change the settings back then. What are you CPU/GPU utilizations like while in game?? Use something like MSI Afterburner with OSD to see them.

That's normal.

I booted up 1.16.5 and it said the same thing - 1.8.0_51.

I updated last month, I think.

I've updated Java, it's definetly on the latest version, i guess i'll try a fresh install.

That's the only other thing I can suggest, besides reducing rendering distance and amount of chunks (I haven't played MC or MC with mods in a LONGGG time). This is starting to sound like the game optimization is just bad at this point since the rig is not holding you back if everything else we have tried is working as intended.

just curious, what happens when you play on 4 render distance?

I play on those settings and get 1200 FPS, if you dont get better or a simillar result there is something wrong (I have a 1650 and a 4600h)

I've now done a complete uninstall and reinstall of Java and restarted the System twice. Is it worth reinstalling Minecraft?

Render distance at 4 achieves EXACTLY the same frame rate. No improvement at all

seems like minecraft being minecraft. sorry! I do not have any more suggestions. Try other forums lie Minecraft's own forums.
