Fan LED dimming when fan speed is lowered

So I decided to plug in an old 80mm fan with LEDs to my NZXT Sentry 3 to test out the lights and I noticed that when I lowered the fan speed, the lights would dim.

 

The fan I tested with:

The 3 pin connector of the fan controller (its wide enough for a 4 pin but only has 3 physical pins)

Currently I have two 140mm fans that I would like to switch out for Corsair 140 LED fans which would be hooked up the fan controller because my motherboard doesn't have enough fan headers.

 

Is there any way to prevent the LEDs on the fans from dimming when I lower the speed?

sounds normal to me.

you would have to de solder the leds and hook em to a steady voltage

Basically the NZXT fan controller modifies the signal to adjust fan speed, but the LED are receiving the same signal, so they dim.

Nothing you can do except removing the LED to avoid a potential eye sore or detach the LED legs from the wires/pcb inside and solder them to another header so they have 12V always

Soldering wires is beyond me. I guess I'll have to use some led strips near my fans to get the same effect
