I just recently bought a 3070 and from some reason no matter what I do my VRAM will only say its using about 4GB in task manager, I've tried BTC mining and using blender but I simply cannot get it to go above that threshold. My games are pretty much all running the same as when I had a GTX 1080 with little to no performance boost aside from being able to Raytrace in some games. It's causing crashes in some games and I can't even play some. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you re-using your old GTX 1080 drivers, or did you wipe the nVidia drivers clean, and install new ones?

I used DDU twice just to make sure that wasn't it, and reinstalled drivers fully both times

like i said, are you facing performance issue or what?

because it wont use more VRAM than necessary if it doesn't have to

can you run GPU-Z and post a screenshot it?

I havent seen any fake 30-series GPU, but it's plausible if you got it from sketchy sources

if DDU didn't work, might need a full windows re-install, could try a fresh windows install on another drive to test if it fixes it, before wiping your current drive

maybe you got some type of virous on there and if it sees nothing you may just need to do a whole clean install of your system

It seems to have started working now, I'm going to most likely swap to a new boot drive and only transfer my important files so if the issue reappears before than ill see if a new drive works
