I have an ageing GTX 1070, do I buy another for SLI or a whole new GPU?

Ogbt88

My Specs: R5 3600 at OC'd to 4.3 Ghz, Asrock X570 Pro4, Vengeance LPX 3200 4x8Gb, MSI GTX 1070 Armor and a 1000 watt PSU.

The 1070 is showing it age with AAA games, my question do I buy a used 1070 for SLI or try and find a new single GPU like a 3060 ti or something comparable. I have a 27" 4k monitor but game in 1440p. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

SLI

Unless the games you play are specifically geared towards SLI, it doesn't bring you the boost you were hoping for. A newer (if you can find one) GPU would be the better way to go

SLI is dead, last time it was atleast somewhat feasible to do so was with 10xx series cards. Get whatever RTX3070+ card you can get your hands on for 4K

Sell the 1070, get a 3000 series card. Most games will not see benifits from SLI as you want.

Bad idea right now as you’re more likely to end up with no card for a long while.

From what I can see on youtube (however reliable that is) you could get close to 3070 frame rates with dual 1070, like really close (in games where sli is supported). So it's theoretically a good move however, like others have said SLI support is all but gone and you will not get any increased performance in games or apps that don't support it.

If you can easily get hold of another cheap 1070 and bridge then it would be nothing more than a stop gap in between upgrading to a 20 or 30 series card which is what I would probably aim for. Also, 1070 are going for pretty strong money on ebay so it might be a good time to sell

Keep the 1070 for now.

wait for the 3060ti or 3070 to be at their MSRP around 450-500$. then sell your gpu for like 150-200$ and buy a new gpu.
