What If I Install A Lower RAM Speed than the factory one

So my laptop comes out with an i5-8300H And the RAM is SODDIM 1x8GB DDR4 2666MHz, What i am about to install is :SODDIM 2X4GB DDR4 2400MHz

What will happen to my laptop?

Will it boot Up?

Or it will not?

Thanks!

Speaking of thanks, Thanks to you guys replying and giving me answers!

If you are mixing it with the other ram, there is a good chance that it will not boot up because they are different speeds and also probably different manufacturers. If you are replacing all of the ram though it should be completely fine.

Main System:
CPU
 - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (OC)

Motherboard - Asus ROG Strix B450-F Gaming II
RAM - Crucial Ballistix 3200 Mhz 16 GB (8x2)
GPU - Asus Dual RTX2060 12GB
Case - Corsair 4000D Airflow
Storage - Crucial BX500 480 GB - Seagate BarraCuda 7200 RPM 2 TB
PSU - PowerSpec 650 Watt 80 Plus Bronze (looking for replacement, its loud)
Cooler - Hyper 212 Evo with two RGB fans

NAS:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 (had on hand)

Motherboard: HP Slimline S5610F Motherboard from Ebay

RAM: EVGA Superclocked 16gb

Storage: 2x 4TB WD Blue and old asf caviar se16 250gb because I had it and its worked for so long I don't trust anything else as much

GPU: Integrated on the mobo
Case: Old PowerSpec case from Micro Center (that can hold 8 hard drives)

PSU: EVGA W3 500W

Cooler: AMD stock cooler at PS4 RPM's that keeps the cpu at 14-24 degrees

Would it take time to boot up?

It maybe run some Memory Check?

Because i tried 3 hours ago the laptop light up but there is nothing at the screen

i turned it off 10 seconds after it doesn't show anything at the screen

should i give it more time?

Are you using different ram sticks, because that looks like something that would happen with that.

I hate to ask this but maybe one of them is dead????

Try the "new" modules one at a time. If still no luck with either of them, put the original back in and check that still works. As a laptop there's unlikely to be any settings in bios for ram, but check it out anyway.

On the original question, I'd have said it should work, either by itself or even mixed with the old ram. Laptop ram is rarely high performance XMP, but JEDEC standard speed and timings. It's about as safe as it gets to ram compatibility that even mixing isn't likely to cause a problem.

Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

If they are different brand, speed, size or latency, they might not work in a laptop or desktop. For example here are some pictures of mismatching ram that would not work together. I doubt that any of the sticks are dead.

They are actually from my old laptop, i upgraded my old laptop like 4 years ago, All i think is same type and speed, I buyed teamgroup 4GB DDR4 2400MHz because my old laptop factory RAM is Kingston 4GB DDR4 2400MHz, i don't think different brand matters at that time.

I had my own experience with ram like this. They are two 32 gig sticks but they didn't work. Found out a lot later that one was from Micron and the other was from SK Hynix. All same speed, but incompatible.

I tested the ram on my new laptop because i want to sell them, or i hear that Dual Channel Memory when its a little bit slower on speed but the same type, its faster like 5% difference in FPS from the little bit faster than the Single Stick RAM one. if its working and if its faster i am gonna sell the 8GB Stick one (from my laptop's factory) or if its not faster than the single stick one then i am gonna selll the dual stick one(from my old laptop.)

Possible the mobo not outputing enough voltage? I also got some Power Limit Throttling too!

Don't give up my friend!

WE SOLVE THIS TOGETHER!

THAT'S HOW FORUMS WORK

Did the battery run out? Is it plugged in? There are LOTS of factors now.
