I recommend going with the RM850 just to be sure.

i recommend going with 750, going high above just lowers the efficiency of the PSU

He doesn't need 850W for that set up. If he was running a 4930K or something, plus a water cooling loop, then maybe.

I recommend staying with the 750 one two but this is wrong. A PSU's efficiency is typcial at it's highestt around 50% load a stressed out 780 sli will pull 650-700 Watts. That is more like 90% load.

Yes it is. Tiny Tom made a video running a oced i5 and a 780ti on an RM 450 Watt.

Big difference in that he didn't overclock both at the same time, didn't overvolt the GPU and the 780s can go to a minimum of 1.3v compared to the 1.212V for most 780Ti cards.

snip

It's all dependant on what he wants to do, if he never plans on overvolting+ benchmarks, he'll be fine.  2 780's can easily take 700+ once you get into 1.3v+ territory, such as @VSG mentioned.

Stuff:  i7 7700k @ (dat nibba succ) | ASRock Z170M OC Formula | G.Skill TridentZ 3600 c16 | EKWB 1080 @ 2100 mhz  |  Acer X34 Predator | R4 | EVGA 1000 P2 | 1080mm Radiator Custom Loop | HD800 + Audio-GD NFB-11 | 850 Evo 1TB | 840 Pro 256GB | 3TB WD Blue | 2TB Barracuda

I know that your kingpins are more power hungry than that. I know also the Windforcfe 780 comes  oced out of the box pretty high.

You probably won't need more than the RM750. I'm running a 3930k @4,6GHz and 2 x GTX 780 and while folding I'm drawing about 800W from the wall. But then again the system isn't really drawing 800W as the PSU is sucking up  11% of that power.

Ya the Classified cards can go much higher on voltages than any other 780Ti without needing any hard mods.

Less than .001% of people plan on doing that, if they are, they'll know what PSU they need. We don't need to recommend 1000W PSUs for every SLI configuration. A 4670K @ 4.2GHz-4.5 like OP is interested in isn't exactly a benchmarking style rig
