switched motherboard from tuf z270 to b550 msi carbon wifi but no display works

Go to solution Solved by WhitetailAni,

Your motherboard will likely need a BIOS update, and using 2133 MHz RAM really holds back Ryzen's performance.

Your GTX 980 is most likely fine.

EDIT:
I would advise getting some 3600 CL16 RAM.

Hi guys,

I'm new here so I hope I'm posting it in the right section.

I have updated my motherboard and cpu to a msi b550 carbon wifi with a 9 series 5900 amd Prosessor.

I reused my corsair ddr4 2133 mhz memory and reused my gigabyte 980 gt windforce gpu.

this setup worked with my old 5700 Intel chip on my z270 Asus tuf board. but now that I have transferd it over the pc boots the fans spin and leds are working but none of my 3 screens are working.

I have checked the website and it says that it supports up to ddr4 5100mhz so I assume that my 2133 should be fine for it.

the gpu runs and fans are spinning on it but I'm not getting any display action.

could it be possible that this old gpu is not compatible with my new cup and mobile?

I have tried to look for it but can't find anything saying it isn't compatible.

I am going to get a gigabyte Radeon 6800 rx tomorrow so I could check for compatibility.

does anybody know why my old gpu isn't working on my new system?

any help would be much appreciated

Best regards

Thanks guys for the help.

althouge the Bios update was a weird experience.

put the file on a usb with fat32 format.

pluged it in with the pc off.

pressed and hold the flash button on the IO panel.

and the pc started but no screen booted up.

after like 10 min the pc stoped and rebooted.

after that the screens started to come alive.

so many thanks from my side i can play my games  again.
