i9 7920x Missing Cores in Task Manager/CPU-Z

1045666

I did some searching but the threads I found suggested a solution that didn't apply to my case, (msconfig > boot tab > advanced options > uncheck 'number of processors' > make permanent > restart). It was already unchecked in my case.

It's showing 8 cores instead of 12, but is recognized in BIOS. I could do a clean install of W10 but I was wondering why that would make a difference if it's already up to date - it would be a small hassle to do right now, but I can if that's the answer.

Anyone know of other solutions I could try before formatting?

Run a Cinebench run and see if your score lines up where you would expect for a 7920x.

Even with MSCONFIG / Processors Unchecked, Do it anyway......enable (Max the Listing), reboot, disable the Checkbox again, reboot.

Computers are still weird like that.
It's cured issues for me in the past still doing it this way when I figured, no way this would just work...
Hope it sorts itself out quick smart doing this trick.

I also chuckled when I saw CPU-FLEX on your Motherboard page.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I did a clean install. Both before and after installing drivers, task manager still showed 8/12 cores. I followed the process SkilledRebuilds suggested as well.

Any other ideas?

Update: just had to update the BIOS!
