I bought new RX 570 Strix 8gb few months ago for about 150e, checked price now and its around 350e. Other cards are around same price, a bit higher. I know about mining craze atm but this is low end card why did price rise so much?

evreyone has used the radeons as "replacemnet cards" for the 30 series, now for $150 your lucky to get a 470 4gb

Oh, didn't see that. The forum has been acting odd for me lately.

I still don't understand how there can be such a price hike of the old cards. I mean, everybody had their old hardware before the new graphics cards launched, so they had a GPU already. They didn't need to buy a new (old) card. Don't tell me that *everybody* sold their old GPU in anticipation of the new cards. Where is the price hike coming from and why does it only seem to affect the video cards? Is it because of covid or what? Not enough GPU's being produced? But why was there no problem just before the new cards hit then? I just can't wrap my head around it. Feels like some sort of GPU-panic to me, almost like the tulip mania.

That is basically what happened.

A LOT of people sold their GPUs, and hoped to pick up a RTX 3060 / 3070 / 3080.

My co-worker was out without a GPU for 3 months.... his EVGA FTW RTX 3080 finally came in last week.

I sold my 2x Sapphire NITRO R9-Fury's for $300 CAD a piece within days.... and I think that was considered low.

$300 CAD = $230 ~ $ 240 USD.

That and because of COVID.

Instead of 400x RX-580's being shipped per shipping crate, it's 100x of them instead.

The shipping companies are charging a higher fee too, and NOW with the EVEN higher Trump tariff tax.

Most of the GPUs are made in Taiwan / Asian, and shipped over to the US (TSMC, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSi factories / headquarters are in Asian).
