Free To Play (Valve)

Im interested to see what people though of Free To Play the movie. I'm not much into Dota but I think it was an awesome documentary, well put together and just great all round.  Any of you people seen it? Liked it? Disliked it? Thoughts?

It was good although I would have liked them to put the spotlight on EHOME a bit more, I feel like we barely got to see them at all.

I watched it last night. It was good I enjoyed it but what do you expect it was made by Valve. BTW Free To Play 3 words HL3 confirmed.

I loved it. Valve should get into movie business :P Imagine a PC Master Race movie, played in theaters all around the world. It would educate young peasants how to join the master race, from building pc's to making smart buys on steam...one can only wish.

none of the EHome players really had a better stpry than hyhy themselves and as u can see they took 1 person from every "region" (NA, EU, asia) to cover alot of bases. all with unique stories. ehome just wasnt interesting even when i watched them at the first international

Haven't played Dota since the frozen throne days. The movie was a interesting watch, Valve should consider making another one on a different topic.

I saw this yesterday when it was streamed, I thought the part where fear talked about his desk was retarded, and also wish the movie was on more then only the first international.

I think China got very good support that I somehow don't think they faced any hardships in terms getting family's approval when getting into that career... They even got full team support like a football team!!! I was amazed... heck, their woman even wants to date Dota players... telling the story of how hard they train might be interesting but probably not the theme Valve wants to put forward in this one.

That's pretty much what it came down to lol. Still an interesting documentary though but it didn't live up to my expectations. It blows my mind how huge DoTA is in China.

I feel like Valve botched when making the movie's companion item packs for the Dota 2. There are 3 sets for 3 heroes, 1 for each and also the option to buy the whole thing along with a new courier and sentries. However, since it's specifically these 3 heroes (Pudge, Doom, Sven) only people who like those heroes would like to buy them. I personally do not play as any of them so I'm really not interested in the items. They should have made a pack that contained non-hero specific items like HUDs, announcer packs, loading screens ect.

I'v never played Dota or any other MMORPG but this documentary was really interesting nonetheless. You don't need to know anything about Dota to enjoy it and it really gives you an insight on competitive gaming at that level. In fact, watching Free to Play actually makes me want to start playing Dota 2.

I thought it was a nice film. I don't know a huge amount about dota but it was okay to watch nonetheless. I wish they'd put more of the actual gameplay footage in though instead of the CGI - I would have liked to see the entirety of the final match, for example.

Apart from that it was really interesting to see how their families coped with it and how much the players gave up just to go to the tournament. I wouldn't do that personally but then again I'm not a huge dota fan.

I loved it, I would've liked to see the movie be a bit wider in terms of games, like not change the focus on the DOTA tournament, but also mentioned cs tournaments and stuff like that too
