Motherboard bios update

I just bought a msi b550 a pro and a 5600x and I think it needs a bios update, but I don’t know what bios is on it so is there a way to check? And if I install the same bios on could that damage the board? What bios would you recommend because I saw on the micro center forums someone ask what bios to install and they said not to install AGESA 1.1.9.0 firmware and stick to 7C56VA4. Thank you for any help!

First off, why do you think that the boards needs a BIOS update? If the computer is running fine then you probably don't need it. BIOS version's and release dates can be seen in the main landing page in the BIOS top right section:

Technically speaking you shouldn't be able to update to the same version that you currently have installed. Don't know how MSI do it, but other vendors usually have a prompt show up that you are attempting to update the BIOS with a revision which is the same as the one you currently have and asks you if you still want to proceed or not.

Some boards also have the option to do a cloud update of the BIOS, which automatically downloads and installs the latest version if you are not on that one already. Again, not sure if your particular board has it, but is something to look into.

What is wrong with the PC ? if nothing is wrong leave it alone.  If you don't know how to check what bios you have and where to find an updated one  ( IF it exists ) then I would assume that you don't know how to update the bios.

If you have no real reason to mess with the bios let it be. if you don't know what you are doing you will kill your PC

As per MSI website this is the latest BIOS installed in your motherboard after it only beta version came so don't install beta Bios stay with the current one (7C56VA4) installed.
