I need to buy a good CPU (Please Help)

Hello! I am looking to buy a cpu to buy for my new pc! It’s needs to be a Intel 8th Gen processor! I was looking at the i5-8400! Can anyone recommend an 8th Gen CPU which isn’t too expensive? Please advise! EDIT: Sorry i have should have said this earlier, budget is £100 ($140 USD)

If you can find a used 8700k on eBay, that's what I would go for.

 

Assuming your motherboard has overclocking features, the 8700k should be able to hit 5Ghz on all cores all day long and keep you going for a while longer.

Thank you for your reply, it is a great CPU but a tad out of my budget. I'm capped to £100 ($140USD)

Sorry I have changed my mind, I now need a intel 6th gen processor or what ever one works with the ASUS H110M-K H110 motherboard. Planning on using it for gaming, with a 1050ti and a 600w psu!

It looks like your trying to eek as much out of some old hardware as you can.

 

eBay has a few 6700k listings for well under a £100.

 

That should keep your system alive for a little while longer.

Your pairing it with a 1050 ti so an i5 6500 or 6600k or whatever would be fine but not as good for multitasking or games that like lots of threads. The i5 costs like 70 to 80ish us at the cheapest The i7 would be more future proof and would allow a gpu upgrade with no bottlenecks. I just saw a 6700k on OfferUp for 140 us the other day but eBay is probably a lot safer/more reliable. On eBay it will be close to 200 for one. You don't have an overclocking capable motherboard so a 6700 non k would not be that much worse, but it's base clock is still lower so get the 6700k if prices are similar. I have a 6700k paired with a 2060 and it runs games great but I had to upgrade from the i5 because it struggled in poorly optimized games, it still ran them and they were playable but held back my gpu and would run like crap in certain areas.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I'll probably either go for the i5-6600 or the i7-6700 (both of which not the K processor)
