Weird semi desktop crash

Hi, 

 

I have a weird issue with my PC where sometimes it stops functioning correctly. For example I am on the desktop and I can move windows around ect... and i can open say google chrome however it just opens to a white screen. I then cant close it. Going to Start and selecting power options like Shut Down or Restart dont do anything. Monitoring software like HWinfo stops updating new information and freezes on current figures, whereas fan speed/temps/clock speeds are normally updating. 

I have to restart via the restart button on my PC case and then the boot process takes a long time.

 

I have had the issue happen so far when; closing Black ops cold war / closing Assassins Creed Valhalla / In the middle of doing some photo editing on Photoshop.
