Low perfromance on low battery plugged in laptop ASUS

So i have a Asus q45ua laptop and im into light gaming such as League of Legnds and i noticed that when i have low battery and im plugged in i get next to no perfomace. If i were to remove the plug i would get normal levels of performance in game. I searched around i cant find anyone with a solution to my problem. Anything would be apprieicated. Thank you fro your time.
