DAC/AMP for beyerdynamic dt 1990 pro

Danielkc22

Hey!
Im looking for a good solution for a dac/amp for beyerdynamic dt 1990 pro. And i cant really seem to choose wich. I have been looking at a Modi3+ and Magni+3 stack and the JDS Labs Atom Amp. And lastly i have been looking at the Creative Sound BlasterX G6. And i have no real idea which would be the best solution, since the JDS is around 100$ and modi magni stack is 264 with shipping.
I would say that im around 50/50 gaming and music.

Thanks! 🙂

The G6 will be great then. I have the AE-9 and it is amazing. The software is great that comes with it as well.

The liquid spark stack to me tend to be the best pairing for Beyers in the budget range. The power adds a lot to the dynamics and the treble roll off help with the sharp treble response. But these days if you want something more neutral the current magni 3+ modi schiit stack a easy reccomend as well.

which is very much true. the 1990 are unforgiving and can be treble mosters if you use the wrong pads. so priority should be the cleanest stack you can get.

Perks of the DT1990s is they use Beyer dynamics tesla drivers which have a really good sensitivity. Which means they are really easy to run.

My iphone runs the same drivers (i have the 1770 closed back version) at less then half volume.

You probably wont need a AMP and buying one if you current system be that a computer or a phone etc is working it will have little improvement in audio quality.

the 1770 is a much easier headphone to drive than the 1990 but I can imagine the 1990 being able to run on much weaker gear than the 250 990 due to the favt that they run off tesla drivers

Another suggestion made if you bumped up the budget is the Asgard with the dac module in it
