My upgrade plan - good idea or silly?

Go to solution Solved by WhitetailAni,

Zen 4 will not be an AM4 chip anymore.

Current setup is X370 Taichi + 3700X.

So I think I'll be getting a new case soon, I've been using my current for many many years now, it goes all the way back to a i5 4560k, it even still has a dvd drive. I might get the H500 by CM.

I like to do my upgrade in parts, so the one year I might get a new CPU (like I went from 1700 to 3700X) and the next year I might upgrade the GPU, or a new monitor or whatever. I was thinking, what if I get a x570 with the new case (and keep using the 3700X) - rebuild it with the new case + mobo, and then next year I can put in in Zen 4 CPU, whenever that gets released.

What do you think? Cool idea or money waste?
