Completely new too this, kind of desperate for a starting point/tips/build suggestions!

Budget (including currency): $2,000USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming first and foremost (CP2077, RDR2, GTAV, Witcher 3. Things like this!) , graphic design and art second. Needs plenty of space for the plethora of files I have for my business and eventual downloads once I get things in order.

Other details I posted a full run-down of what I'm aiming for here on Reddit. I thought I'd just extend my reach here a little since no one there has (of yet) said anything about the build itself.

In essence, I'm completely new to PC building and I've only had prebuilt gaming laptops until now. I've always wanted a custom desktop rig but I would let the anxiety of my lack of knowledge get the better of me often, which in turn would keep me from finding a good place to start. What I basically want to know if what I outlined in that separate post (linked above) is possible with the budget? I'm well aware that currently it's not a great time for building - that's fine with me, but I'm still interested in a potential list I can go off of if anyone has any suggestions for when the time comes I will be able to build.

I apologize if I sound silly or if any of this is dumb. I'm just a complete noob that wants a nice PC.

Do you have an old PC in the family that you don't really care about ? if yes that is the way to start. take it apart and put it back together, format it so you experiment and learn.

Start little and then go big

  • For power supply get a fully modular 850w
  • For graphics get something rtx3000 that fits in the remaining budget but good luck because there is a major shortage

EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra Gaming $840

-----

Total $1940
