I was watching a video on Nvidia's YouTube channel about "Visualizing 150 Terabytes of Data". The key point is how these DGX servers have a lot of bandwidth to access large datasets.

And I was thinking if it is possible to use a DGX server for LMG.

If Money was not an issue, Is it technically possible and beneficial? or will it be waaay overkill !

What would they do with hardware specifically geared towards massive AI-tasks?

A lot of bandwidth between NVMe drives and the GPUs directly. Has no relevance to storage servers.

I though Whonnock was the high-speed storage server, and they had that 2U OC machine for rendering.

I mean, sure, but if money was not an issue then they could go with any datacenter storage appliance and get way better results than they currently got. The DGX servers are designed for a specific goal in mind (storage for GPGPU tasks) and it doesn't really fit what LMG does with their storage. It would work, and most likely work better than their current setup, but it would probably be a waste.

Like buying a really expensive screwdriver and then using the handle of it as a hammer.
