Would a 3rd gen PCIE M.2 slow down a 4th gen Storage/Game drive?

Zendrith501

I feel like this is a stupid question but its one that I want to know the answer to. GIGABYTE announced the AORUS Gen4 7000s SSD 1TB and 2TB; they are Gen 4 m.2s that can do reads of up to 7gb per second. Ill eventually get the 1tb one to replace my boot drive but for the time being I want to get the 2tb one to replace my HDD I've had for a few years now. My question is, will my Samsung 970 EVO plus (500gb) slow down the AORUS Gen4 7000s SSD, even if its a little bit. If it doesn't then cool, ill keep going until I feel I need to reasonably replace it.
