Ryzen Master 97% CPU EDC in idle, should I worry about it?

suha04

Hi guys!

As the title says, each time I check my CPU temps, I see this data, and I don't know if I should do something about it. Sometimes it goes up to 97% (red), but mostly around 90% (yellow). I'm using Windows Balanced power plan. Please, help me understand this.

Thanks!

In PBO on Ryzen Master, increase the EDC to 165a.

Should I update the BIOS to the newest BETA or the newest STABLE will be enough?

What will this do? Will it compromise anything?

It will raise the power limit so at defaults it may boost harder and more often. It should be beneficial actually.

Just like raising the power limit in MSI after burner on your Nvidia card.

So I tried it, and just as I thought, there was a drawback. I see that my temp went higher, but I'm not an idiot, I know that was a sacrifice 😛

So I put in to 150, and it seems fine. However, thank you!

I did. It wasn't a fix, but thanks for the answer!

i dont understand why your cpu is drawing so much current on idle. that seems like an actual issue. raising the power limit is not fixing the issue

I wrote to AMD, maybe they can talk some sense into it 😄
