Can studio headphones also benefit from virtual surround or are gaming headset drivers specifically tuned towards this ?

With all the audio research i did lately i became today curious of this, are the gamine headsets drivers themselves tuned for virtual surround (i mean the speaker as driver, not the software driver), or can Studio headphones benefit as well from virtual surround with the right sound-card ?

Depends if the studio headphones support the surround sound. I'm pretty positive that Studio headphones can be used for gaming and perform same if not better. Lately you don't even need a sound card unless your motherboard is from a stone age.

Virtual sourround works with all stereo headphones.

Well that it works i know of as well, is it just as good was what i was curious :p.

Some Headphones have better 3D effect, this is caused by up to 3+ factors, 1. the headphone has individual drivers for diffrent sounds or multiple drivers for 3D stuff 2. the size of the drivers 3. the headphones individual software drivers (for example my headphones can turn on surround sound if connected through USB on their software [though the software makes it so everything sounds diffrently so I don't use it since I listen to music])

Basicaly it's a spec you shouldn't worry about.

Virtual surround sound doesn't need a sound card or specialist equipment. Its just software which most modern games have built into the game engine.
The only time you would want a sound card is for surround sound system to give outputs to send audio to different speaker. But most people dont do that as digital audio has become the main thing for surround sound speakers.
