"Desktop Window Manager" and Discord taking up 20-40% of my GPU during games...

MadTheDogg

This problem happened yesterday, randomly as far as I can tell I did nothing to provoke it, apart from upgrading to a 3060ti a few days back. I noticed my FPS dropping and something called "Desktop Window Manager", some windows process, was using up 40% of my GPU, sometimes going up to 80%. I used Battlefront 2 as a sort of benchmark and I went from a constant 144fps the entire time that same morning to about 7 FPS. All I could find online was "troubleshoot in task manager" (which did nothing), update your drivers / windows (which they are) and then do a clean windows install, which I just have. However when I thought I had fixed the issue, discord decided to join in the party and use up 40% of my gpu alongside desktop window manager. I don't know what I'm supposed to do, is it my windows? is it my new GPU?

Seems to be windows to blame, somebody claims that rolling back the update fixed it. Yet another reason not to use 10...
