Recommend RAM for b550 ROG STRIX E-GAMING and Ryzen 5900X.

Hi everyone,

a week ago I bought a motherboard ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING and CPU Ryzen 9 5900X.
I'm also waiting for the delivery of the RTX 3080 from ASUS. I don't have RAM - it's last part for my PC ;).

I have a question for you - what RAM would you recommend for this set? I was thinking of buying 2x16GB, I read about sweet spot - 2x16 3600 CL16.
Anyone have the same motherboard? It's important that the memories should be compatible with QVL.

Greetings

Invest in a better motherboard. That mobo cant handle high ram, trust me, I have experience with the same board, wont boot with ram set to 3600mhz

Well, that's why I would like to follow OVL - if ASUS ensures that RAM works because it tested this configuration itself, it shouldn't be a problem?
U had RAM compatible with OVL? Moreover, e-gaming is recommend by many known reviewers...

What do u think about this RAM? Compatible with QVL, all has b-die and available in shops. I'm going to using max 32GB ram in PC, so I can buy 4x8GB or 2x16GB, which one to choose?

If you need 32GB, I would go 4X8GB, as I personally think it looks far better with all dimm slots populated. Also the timings on that kit are definitely better than on the 2X16GB.

So, what type of ram would you recommend guys? 2x16 or 4x8, all will be good (i don't want expand  more GB in the future) and which one is good for this motherboard? I can spent ~320-350$, max 400$ if it's worth it. 😉

Honestly man, I just looked at what was on sale, looked at the QVL from the memory and board maker and dropped it in my cart. And then I went back and bought a lower end set but same speed and timings. It was during Black Friday so.. 😄

Edit:

I just ran this because I added a couple of fans to my case and wanted to try it out.. It didn't start up with all four sticks so for now I will just run the pair.

  • 2 weeks later...

I found G.SKILL FlareX 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz CL14 (F4-3200C14D-32GFX) and i have a question. It is compatible looking at the g.skill website, while the asus website is not listed - if on g.skill website this RAM is compatible, it should work? RAM on b-die, so i hope, that 3600 is available 😄
