Is it normal for a monitor's colour accuracy to become noticably worse over time?

Darth Wilhelm

I'm running an el cheapo samsung monitor (I intend to upgrade but COVID has stopped that). I've been using this since just before the lockdown, since the lockdown began around March I've been using this for upwards of five hours a day.

Today I've noticed that the display has become noticably amber, to the point where white barely looks white anymore. I've remedied this with the OSD settings and Window's in built colour calibration tools.

Is having to do this normal, and will it get worse?

Thanks in advance!

I can't speak about monitor degradation over time, but I use a calibrator to calibrate my display's colours. This needs to be done about once a week as the colours will drift over time. So... maybe?

System Specs: Second-class potato, slightly mouldy

i don't think that is normal. sure, over time colors will drift slightly so you will need to calibrate frequently for sensitive work, but in normal use cases it shouldn't drift that noticeably.
