The glorious HD 7970 is the GPU supported for the longest time in history.

Supported since January 9, 2012, 9 years and going.

 

Legends never die,and it's performance is still fine now days,slightly better than a 1050 Ti.

 

It would be nice to see Linus review the card in 2021.

Those who bought a 2600K and the HD 7970 hit the jackpot,a combo of legends that still holds in 2021.

 

Also because of it's age it has driver support for large amounts of operating systems,ranging from Windows XP to Windows 10 on Windows,Mac OSX to Mac OS,and more.

That looks like a cool card.

I'd totally use two of those instead of my 650 Ti Boosts for two reason:

1. I can run them in CrossFire

2. Better port layout

I wonder if a AIB could do that today without some backlash. Maybe if they also had a version with a guy on it?

yeah, I remember that on my old HD 3870 with a whooping 512MB!!! 😄

I bought a 7950 for $80 a few years ago and mined nearly $3,000 with it and then sold it for $170. Best investment yet

GCN architecture carried AMD. I love the HD79XX-HD78XX series cards, still performs insanely good for a card that is almost 10 years old. I have been searching everywhere for a super rare 6GB variant and I havent been able to find it.

AMD didn't want to develop drivers for two or more architectures at the same time,so they dropped support for Non GCN GPUs.

Not the 2012 version. That one hasn't been supported for 2 years. The refreshed 700 series one is still supported for now but that is basically kepler+ and no longer the original

Yeah I am all for somebody trying something different. It was hilarious how angry some people got over that card though. My bad assumed the 600m series was the same as the 600 desktop series as the updates for most of the 600 m series stopped
