lian li 011D fan layout

Cartridge

I'm currently planning a new build for a lian li 011d air cooled build. ryzen 5900x and a 3080 on an Asus TUF x-570 plus board. Want to do at least a little rgb (bc obviously im a basic bitch) and read somewhere if I do intake on the side I would need corsair ql 120's to be able to see the rgb on the intake side. Is this true? Watched the breakdown on gamer's nexus and saw if only three fans, then that was the proper placement, but I was curious about what to do 6. Should I put three non-rgb fan on the bottom for additional intake? Or three fans on the top for exhaust? I think the mobo only as slots for three fans so would it be best to get the commander pro to have full control over fan curves? If so, is it only compatible with corsair fans or would something like noctua work just as well if I didnt want all the extra rgb?

Thanks for the help!

The reason QL would be nice on the side is that they have RGB on the back too. It will still look OK on the side if you don't choose QL. As for the commander pro, I don't know if anything other than Corsair fans will work with it. but my guess is not.

Should be able to put 3 120's on bottom of the case, 3 on the sides and 3 on the top if its the mid tower. I am currently building in the case as well with 9 Unifans though

Where did you get the UNI fans? And at MSRP? Either the QL or the UNI would be a great fit for a O11 -D model.
