I have specific question about my RAM upgrade

Budget (including currency): about 80$ USD (converted currency)

Country: Czech Republic

 

I have a decent gaming pc and I wanted to amp up its smoothness by increasing ram, the reason being 90% of my games use up 80 to 90 % of RAM.

 

and while that might be fine, I can feel that game genres like battle royale, etc. could use more ram since they are played on large maps.

 

Currently: I have 8GB of ram in dual link - 4 + 4 Ram sticks

 

And since I'm on a slim budget I want to ask you about a diffrent way of upgrading ram, if it works:

 

16GB is a nice place to be.

 

And the usual way would be buying dual 8GB sticks.

 

However I also thought to myself, why don't I just buy a single 16 gig stick that's the same brand and make it work with the 4GB one somehow.

Why? Because if 16+4 after a period of time isn't enough, I can just swap the 4GB one with another 16 and chill at 32.

I don't think you can mix RAM capacity, unless I'm mistaken.

 

DO NOT buy a single stick, because it's going to be running in single channel only. Buy 2x8GB sticks.

It's probably best for you to get a 16GB kit of 2x8GB sticks like this one.

 

Or, if you can find the same kit you already own, another *GB kit of 2x4GB sticks.

Why do you need full specs?

My MB can hold only 2 stics, yes.... you can run about 64GB of ram on there at least I'm positive about it
