What should I replace my GTX 670 with? RTX 2080 or RTX 3070

Alphawolf627

So I was lucky enough to get gifted a PC for Christmas. Due to the stock situation with the 30 series cards I was told I could choose the GPU I get. I have been debating since stock of the 30 cards is not expected to change any time soon if I should just get a used 2080ti. I have an Asus VG245H which is a 24inch 1920x1080 75Hz 1ms display. I don't plan on upgrading my display anytime soon so 1440 or 4K gaming isn't important to me at the moment. And I am really sick of this GTX 670. What should I do?

My current build is:

Motherboard: ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4S

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900x

RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB 32gb 2x16

Storage: 970 Evo 1tb NVME & Samsung 860 1tb

GPU: MSI Twin Frozr GTX 670

If you can't get a 3070, a 2080 Ti would not be a bad choice.

And yes, I know @handymanshandlejust got mad* but you think a GTX 670 is bad? Try a GTX 650 Ti Boost.

*Not sure, honestly - maybe pointing something out. If he chooses to explain, he will.

imo, the rtx 3070. they are not as hard to get as 3080's. just need to be patient, and follow all the right twitter feeds for a few days, and with any luck, you can get one.

EVGA has a waitlist going on for their 3070s. The average wait is about a month, and then you'll have 8 hours to purchase the card once it goes on sale. Their GPUs are solid and their warranty is second to none. I would just put yourself on their waitlist, and just survive with your 670 for the time being. For 1080p gaming, a 3070 is overkill and I would honestly go with something more like a 3060 ti or non ti if you don't plan to upgrade to high refresh rate

a 3060 Non-Ti would be a great upgrade, or a Radeon 5700XT

IMO the 3060Ti is kind of a dumb product now. 15-20% faster, 50% less VRAM, 50% more expensive
