Power button will turn on pc but wont turn off the pc

So my pc's power button will turn the pc on but not off it used to turn off but after I unplugged the power switch and touched both pins with a screwdriver just to see it turn on I plugged the power switch back and then i turned on my pc by the power button but then when I tried to turn it off the power button would not turn off the pc. Please help!

Why are you playing around with the PC without all the parts anyways?

Ok, you will clear cmos.

Then wait for parts and install them.

Then you will turn it on to install windows.

Without the hardware installed, everything you describe means litterally nothing.

lol I just wanted to see the fans spinning and everything but ill see if that works when I have everything.
