3080 vs 6900xt at same price

XYZ321
Go to solution Solved by Exidor,

Depends do you want raytracing?

Do you need Nvidia additional software features like Voice etc?

So unless you need raytracing,聽DLSS or some other proprietary software from Nvidia the 6900XT is faster than the 3080 in everything without raytracing.

If I can currently get a 3080 or a 6900xt for relatively the same price (3080 is a bit more expensive). Is the 6900xt a good buy then? I don't game at 4k.

I know it does worse in rt but I don't know if the non-rt performance will justify it, I think I only have like 2 or 3 games that supports rt.

6900 XT is a step ahead of the 3080 basically across the board in rasterization (non-ray tracing) performance. Right now there's a total of maybe 3 games where聽 ray tracing is semi-worthwhile, although of course it will get more common now that the new consoles support it (using AMD hardware, it's worth pointing out). DLSS is in some ways the more impressive feature on the Nvidia side to me, but there's only a very limited number of games that support that as well. AMD's ray tracing implementation and DLSS competitor are coming, but they are playing catchup to Nvidia, no denying it.聽

I don't think you'll regret your choice with either but if I had to pick based on the gaming landscape as it is right now the 6900 XT gives you more raw performance for your money.聽

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.聽 If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

overpriced 3080? no thanks. although nvidia features are very good.

6900xt is a clear winner in some areas when it comes to important features it will maybe lose for quite a while.

6900 could be a good value, more so against an overpriced 3080.

i'd buy both, keep the 69, sell the 3080, assuming you have a AIB 69 it's considerably faster. Especially if you don't game at 4k

I wouldn't buy either of them. The 3080 should be much cheaper, and the 6900XT is a bad deal from the get-go, since the 6800XT offers 90-95% of its performance at 2/3 the price.

But for me the cheapest 6800xt I can find is only 100 bucks cheaper than the 6900xt.

I would say get the 6900XT it is a good card. And considering the issues the world has right now most people anticipate that supply wont get better until May so summer basically.

You could be gaming all that time......

Sure the 6900XT is not great value at the price. But at only 30 dollars over MSRP I would say it is a good buy even if you plan to sell it some 6 months down the road.
