Questions about the 3060.

b_spencer28

Hi! I have a couple questions surrounding the 3060 that I wanted to see if anyone could help me with. Given, there’s not a ton of info about it yet, but I was wondering if it would be a decent upgrade from a 1660 Super. It would only really be about a $140 upgrade for me, because I’m gonna sell my 1660 super to my friend for $200 cause he needs a better one and isn’t able to spend a crap ton. Also, would it likely work with my cpu, which is a i5-9400. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

1. Yes, it would.

2. Yes, just at 3.0 speeds, not 4.0 speeds unless your motherboard is the cheapest of all cheapest and supports 2.0.

Does that really exist? I'll bet he very likely has at least a 3.0 x16 slot lol

Probably not, but it might.

Well if my pc build will help:

Mother Board: Gigabyte H310M S2H GSM

CPU: Intel i5-9400 at 2.9 ghz

Ram: 16 GB of DDR4 at ~2700 MHz

512 gb sad from team group I think

It's a 3.0 slot, so your GPU will be running at half of its maximum bandwidth.

For a 3060, though, it won't matter much, if at all.

What power supply do you have

I couldn’t tell you. To be honest, I sinned and bought a prebuilt lmao. But it was $250 off so I couldn’t pass up on it

You might want to look - it might not be strong enough for a 3060.
