Antec 900 - upgrade thoughts

Hi,

I have an Antec 900 case running an intel Core 2 Duo E6550 on a P5G41T-M LX motherboard, 4Gb RAM.

I’d like to upgrade it with the minimal cost preferably with an AMD RAZEN.

Could you propose parts for the buildup ?

This should really go in the Future Builds and Planning subforum, case isn't too relevant, but I'm sure the mods will handle that.

 

You understand what you are talking about is basically an entirely new build? Not just new CPU but new motherboard, new RAM, probably new power supply if the one you're using is from the Core 2 era? There's basically nothing you can carry over except maybe some storage hard drives and the case if you want to keep it. 

 

Before we can give recommendations for parts, need to make sure we're clear on that.

 

What is your budget and currency?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Thanks for the reply Middcore.
Yes, I know that I have to buy NEW parts as:
- PSU
- CPU (AMD preferable)
- MOBO
- RAM 16Gb
and keep (if possible) the old case ANTEC 900.
I want the new PC be given as a gift to my nephew.
I have a budget of 500 dollars.
Could I build a decent mid-range gaming PC on that budget ?

I usually prefer AMD but 10400f is only 160$ while ryzen 5 3600 is 200$. they are very similar at terms of performance.

3600 is not the best value right now since it is at 200$. but you could go with that. it is like 1-5% faster than 10400f with fast ram.
