M.2 SATA incompatible with my Phantom Gaming 4 a/c

WraithIndefinate

Hi There!

I recently built a pc - and thought it would be a great idea to move to an M.2 drive.
unfortunately I bought this WD 1TB m.2 Sata drive which is not being recognized by my motherboard ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 A/C

Can anybody help me still utilize this drive? I don't want to send it back as I'll lose 1/3rd of its value in the refund to restocking fee and shipping to Newegg.

Can I remove the WiFi card and use the drive in that slot? The wifi is M.2 card
Can I utilize it in the Hyper M.2 slot as a secondary drive?

My last resort would be to get a sata enclosure but I don't want to go that route unless its absolutely necessary.

No. The WiFi card uses an A or E key, not a B, M, or B+M key.

What do you mean?
Your motherboard has 2 M.2 slots - try it in both.

The 1st slot is nvme only, the second can be sata.

Well the ultra m.2 can support Nvme or SATA.

1 x Ultra M.2 Socket (M2_2), supports M Key type 2260/2280/22110 M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module and M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32 Gb/s)

If M2_2 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_1 will be disabled.
