Would it be safe to use my 13yo Antec Neo HE with brand new RTX 3070 FE ?

Hi,

 

I just received my RTX 3070 FE. However I'm still waiting fir the Corsair RM750x psu I ordered 2 monthes ago. With all the shortages we have with components, it seems I won't receive it soon ...

 

I currently have my 13 years old Antec Neo HE 500W running my setup like a charm. Would it be safe to use with my new graphic card while waiting for the new one ?

 

My setup with the RTX 3070 (replacing my 1080 GTX) and estimated consumptions from pcpartpicker :

I wouldn't
If your just testing if it works it should be fine, but
You have a 13 year old PSU, that's barley even enough wattage to support a 3070.
Def wait to play games on it.

500w is not even enough to run a 3070 even if it would be a brand new high end psu so don't even try it with your old one

Thanks for the feedback ! I'll wait for my new psu.

 

Maybe I shouldn't even have run my 1080 GTX on that PSU for 4 years 🤣
