Event Id 161 Volmgr crashes.

so, a while back i replaced every part of my PC (spare the E and D drive and PSU) after i started getting this error and crashing into boot every few minutes, now it has started happening again with the new parts. is this possibly caused by my old PSU? i bought it like 6 years ago.

Post the exact wording of the error message, or a screenshot of it, please

One of your drives are bad, most likely the one trying to store the dump files on.

the only drive with anything on it is the C drive, and that is less than 6 months old, it should be noted the vast majority of the crashes happens when i play games

Download and run DiskGenuis.

https://www.diskgenius.com/

 

It has a sector-by-sector checker option to test your drive with. It is very accurate. Post end results.

Warning: DG UI is...busy, ensure you choose the right option, the software *will* wipe your drive if you choose poorly. (right click on the drive in question and choose "verify or repair bad sectors. When the new window opens, do NOT choose the option to "repair normal tracks" and do NOT choose the "repair" button, only the "start verify" button)

 

Do this for all drives you have.

Report back.

they will take some time, theyre old 1tb HDDs but theyre not in use.

Yeah, then test please. I understand they will take time to scan, but we need to eliminate drives as the cause here.

there is a third one, but i didnt have time to scan it yet, i did notice in my HWmonitor though that my voltage output is rougly 10% off its mark, and a microsoft "independant" specialist told me that its a powerissue not a drive issue

lowering my graphics down from 4k ultra to 1080p low makes me able to play, so its a power issue.

so 2 years back i bought a new PC in parts except a new powersupply and E and D drive, i started getting event id 161 so i replaced all the new parts and the error went away, now it has started happening again, can this error be caused by my PSU not being able to supply the correct power? i tried gaming with everything set to 1080p Low instead of 4k high/ultra and that seems to work fine, havent had a single crash since yesterday, usually i crash atleast every 5 minutes almost (as long as its high load content
