Jen-Hsun is Lisa Su's uncle

Goru

Did you know, Jen-Hsun from Nvidia is actually Amd's Lisa Su's uncle. They're competitors and family at the same time. Maybe one told the other at a family meeting about their plans and so the other was forced to make such good GPUs.

Dr. Lisa Su has denied this:

Quote

Currently, there are two well-known Taiwanese CEOs in Silicon Valley. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang, and Lisa Su. Taiwanese media reports that the two were distant relatives, but she dismissed it as "not true."

Tech Times clarifies the translation of the Chinese article does mention they're related, but not uncle/niece level:

Quote

The video was in Chinese but when translated, this is what it said:
It is definitely worth mentioning that yet another Taiwanese semiconductor elite or mostly known as the NVIDIA founder Huang Renxun (Jensen Huang) also came from Tainan. He also has a relative relationship with a known Su Zifeng (Lisa Su) and that Su Zifeng's Grandfather as well as Huang Renxun's mother are, in fact, siblings.

Not technically "uncle" but still related: NVIDIA's Jensen Huang
Technically, it is safe to say that Lisa Su's own grandfather is actually Jen-Hsun Huang's uncle. Although they aren't really niece and uncles, they are very close relatives.

https://www.techtimes.com/articles/253736/20201030/fact-check-nvidia-ceo-uncle-amds-dr-lisa-su.htm

So it's unclear if the denying of Dr. Lisa Su means "We are not related at all" or it just means "He's not my uncle, but a different type of relative".

I wouldn't take this "He's her uncle!!" story as 100% true, with so much ambiguity in it.

"We're all in this together, might as well be friends" Tom, Toonami.

-> Moved to Off Topic

Does this matter in publicly traded companies? Less than you might think. CEO doesn't make business decisions alone, and furthermore being a relative doesn't really mean anything. They could be relatives and hate each other.
