Budget 500-550 gaming pc for the future when I'm older and can afford one

Budget (including currency): 500-550

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: League, Valorant, Minecraft, possibly streaming.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a MSI GT 1030 that costed like $92 from amazon for my pc and it works well for the games I play so I'll upgrade it later but for now I'll put it in the future pc I eventually build it (I know its not the best). Any ideas for the best possible GPU within the budget build I just want to build everything in it besides that GPU because those are costly and i want to get the best GPU  for the build I eventually make, I'm not sure if that made sense?  Um I have a Team Force 2.5 SSD 512 GB. i don't know if it functions for the same purpose as a hard drive. So if someone can help explain if they both serve the same purpose, thanks. And that's all, thanks!

the ssd i have https://www.amazon.com/TEAMGROUP-Internal-Solid-State-T253X2001T0C101/dp/B07PX2KKHM/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=team+group+gx2+2.5"+1tb+sata+iii+internal+solid+state+drive+ssd&qid=1610499455&sr=8-1

my current gpu https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT-1030-2G-LP/dp/B071L4VKF6/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=msi+gt+1030&qid=1610499618&sr=8-1

If those games are all your gonna be playing then a low end Ryzen 5 could suit well - it would allow for more powerful GPU compatibility in the future.

Ryzen 5 1600 - GTX 980 Ti - Broke.

Ryzen 3100 would be perfect for a 500$ build with a GT1030 and more than enough CPU power to run anything up to around a 2070 before holding back the GPU.

PSU is overkill for the 1030 but gives you lots of headroom for later higher power cards and CPUs. B550 is also compatible with 5000 series AMD so 5600X would be the perfect "after a few years" upgrade opening up the 3060ti and higher graphics cards when they hit the used market in a couple years when the 1030 needs a replacement.

The best gaming PC is the PC you like to game on, how you like to game on it

A 3400G system would be better than using the GT1030.

A 3400G costs around $160

A B450 Motherboard around $100

16gb (2x8) of 3200mhz or faster RAM should be in the region of $70.

Now, if ur PSU is good quality, u should be fine re using it and ur old case, SSD, and any HDD u have.

So for roughly $330 u can update the base system, save the rest of the cash for a future GPU. You wont need to use the GT 1030, the Vega 11 inside in the CPU will be better.

For most things there is no need to try to put a list together now. By the time you're ready to build it better parts will be available.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Well in the future the build would be completely different in almost every way, so you can’t really get an “idea” of what your buying.

No way of predicting the future, but I doubt your GT1030 would be competitive down the line, as it's already eclipsed by Ryzen APUs in most titles.

The steps to building a PC will probably stay pretty much the same, so you're good there. Just watch a bunch of build guides from LTT, Gamer's Nexus, JayzTwoCents, Bitwit, etc. Oh, and stay away from that one by The Verge.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

That wasn't a PC build guide. It doesn't belong in that list.

DO NOT GET THE 3100 AT $179!!!

The 10100 at $115 is a far better option. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qtqBD3/intel-core-i3-10100-36-ghz-quad-core-processor-bx8070110100

they said they aren't building it right now "the future pc I eventually build it"

a 10100 would be $60 cheaper right now but when AMD stock returns the 3100 is the same price or lower when the lower model 5000 series comes out later this year and has more options for CPUs with better performance and definitely cheaper than intel later.

Oh yeah I saw the verge it was funny to watch I’m kinda new to pc building and stuff into PCs but even I know it was terrible 😂
