can you do Resizable BAR on older generations of budget GPUs such as RX 470/570, 1050 Ti and 1650?

Newblesse Obblige

I just want to know if you can or not and if not, why?

Assuming you have a CPU that can do Resizable BAR

it might depend on more parts, or if software/firmware is able to open it up.

I guess we just have to see what cards they will support or if OS was going to enable that (like a button to enable SAM)?

but seen in some games SAM is giving some benefits, not always that much? Nothing to pay extra for.

I guess for now it's only through the 5000 series cpus and 6000 cards.

Yes, although since the memory size and speed aren't as fast as current generation graphics cards I doubt they would help gaming performance.

If you're asking whether NVIDIA and AMD will enable it for older graphics cards...I also doubt :(

But here's to hoping...

This thread got weird fast...

Now I'm curious if this will work with my GTX 980. o.x I can go from 35 to 37 FPS in Cyberpunk.

I have an old RX 470 and it supports resizable BAR but I didn't test it though!

For me, it's in the BIOS > IO Ports > Re-Size BAR support setting. (I have an Aorus B550 Pro AX MoBo)

you might find it in a different setting depends on your MoBo tho.

It looks like today I was able to enable Resizable BAR for Radeon RX 570 on MSI X470 Gamin Plus with Ryzen 5 2600X

For NVIDIA, resizable BAR works only on the RTX 3000 series of GPUs.
