Razer BlackWidow V3 Tenkeyless Mechanical Keyboard

Just thought I'd share this experience with those of you who may be tight on money, or simply wanting to save a little extra cash by buying something used. Back in early December, I purchased a used Razer BlackWidow V3 Tenkeyless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard from Amazon, and the keyboard itself looks to be brand new. Not a single scratch on it anywhere. No kinks in the cable, no loose keys, nothing. The RGB lighting works perfectly on all keys as well. The keyboard even came in the original box, including the manual and sticker, and the keyboard itself was wrapped in plastic. Not only did it look new, it had that new smell to it when opened. The only damage to anything, was the very minor damage to the keyboard box. Maybe I just got lucky, I don't know. 😀

Amazon was offering an extended return policy at the time, so I decided to take a chance. If the keyboard would've been unsatisfactory, I would've sent it back. Thankfully, it's a keeper! I really like this compact keyboard. The Razer green switches feel very nice to type on. I did have an issue with some of the keys double registering at first, as many others have also mentioned, but a firmware update fixes that. And for those of you wondering, yes, due to the metal top plate, the keyboard is kind of loud when the keys bottom out. Again, mine has Razer green switches.

When I was viewing the various used options to buy, I decided on the Used - Acceptable option. The price was $63.74 at time of purchase ($67.56 after taxes). Buying new would've cost $99.99 (+ tax) at that time.

The keyboard was shipped in it's original retail box, just as you see it below, instead of being shipped in a standard brown Amazon shipping box. Again, the box has minor damage. The box was not even taped sealed, so the keyboard could've easily fell out.

That Amazon message sticker rotated.

A look inside as it arrived.

Here's a close up look at those Razer green switches after removing the keycaps.

Updating the firmware. My keyboard came with version 1.01.00 and was updated to 1.02.00 to fix the issue with the keys double registering at times.

Finally, here's a look at the RGB lighting.

No, the Razer logo does not light up. Before buying the keyboard, I asked this question on the Razer forums, even sent the question to Razer store through twitter, and was told the logo did light up, and they said they went and checked to confirm. Well, now that I have the keyboard, I can confirm, the logo does not light up. At least I don't know how to make it light up. But, whatever, it's no big deal. The keyboard is great!

So there you go. Just remember, I simply may have gotten lucky with this purchase, and you may not be as lucky! 😛 And best of luck if you decide to buy used!

If you've ever bought a used keyboard or mouse from any of the major online stores (Amazon, Newegg, Best Buy, B&H, Ebay, etc), how was your experience?
