Mixing different fans to the same corsair lighting node core.

zcailz

I am buying the corsair 280x which has two ll140 fans in the front but my cooler will have ll120 can I mix 140 and 120 in the same corsair node core? I also want to know if I could put ml fans and ll fans in the same lighting node core? Thanks for your time!

No, that's not possible. AFAIK.

All fans need to be the same series (all LL, all ML. all SP, etc.)

The reason I added the "AFAIK" is because the above thread only mention the RGB LED HUB:

Quote

You can NOT mix fan types on the Corsair RGB Fan LED Hub.

Which is basically part of what the Node Core is.

Thanks for the quick response! But does saying yes to my ll 120 and 140 question mean yes they can be mixed or yes they can't?

The quote button is the back arrow in the bottom of the post. It results in this box ^. You can also multi quote, or you can highlight text with your mouse and quote part of what someone posted, like this

The other way to give someone a notification is to mention them with @zcailz. If their name turns orange, it will ping them.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Yes, you can mix LL120 and LL140 fans on one controller. Sorry for the ambiguity 😅

No you can't mix LL-series fans with another type of fan (like ML) on one controller (AFAIK).

Using the quote button allows you to quote what someone says, which will notify them of your response:

I usually quote, then delete a bunch of stuff to only quote what I am directly responding to (selecting the text and pressing "quote selection" pop up works too for that).

it will work but i would think the extra leds on the 140 will make the animation different? unless both 120 and 140 ll have the same amount of leds? in the software you can only set the 2 led ports to a set fan type. but the hub it self connects to one of thows led ports meaning you cant control the ports on the hub.

I have dyslexia plz be kind to me. dont like my post dont read it or respond thx

also i edit post alot because you no why...

They both have 16 LEDs.

Of course the LL140 fans have a different circumference on the inside & outside LED rings, so if you have two fans together, they will look different.

I recently just did something similar on my own build.  There is one really really annoying thing I discovered that's worth noting.  I used the corsair elite capellix H150i which came with 3 ML120 fans, I also bought a 3 pack of the ML120 fans to fill up the commander core.  Well it seems that corsair in all their genius decided to make different ML series fans for the cooler.  The included fans run at about 20-30% faster than the ML fans that you purchase separately.  I tried with different sets from amazon, Best Buy and Micro Center all with the same result, the non AIO fans run faster off a commander core, or indeed separate controller.  Also of note is the AIO fans do not include a rubber damper on the fan support so don't use them as case fans unless you want to endure the oh so glorious sound of fan hum.

You're correct, the fans included with the Elite Capellix coolers (and most of our others) are different from the retail versions.  We spec the included fans accordingly for being installed on a radiator depending on which model of AIO.  You can match up your fan speeds using the iCUE software and creating a custom curve with the Fan RPM option.

  • 1 month later...

I just received a pre built Corsair x465 case (with Lighting core node) with 3 LL 120 case fans (led port 1-3) and 2 ML pro (led port 5-6) H100i fans connected to the same Lighting Node core

The ML Pro fans are not identified in ICUE nor Corsair Link and they have no RGB

Is this due to the fact that they are mixed on the same lighting node or something else is wrong.

Should the ML pro fans not be connected to the Pump RGB connectors instead.

Couple questions, which model H100i AIO pump do you have?  And are the ML Pro fans you mentioned the ones included with the pump?

For all of our fans, the lighting won't match if they are mixed and matched on the same hub with different versions because the LED counts are different.  For example: LL120 with ML120, or SP120 Pro with LL120.

If you plan to run different RGB fans in the same system, you will usually need a second RGB controller to plug the second model of fans into.

If you have an AIO that supports RGB fans (Elite Capellix or Platinum Series), you can connect the ML fans to the pump RGB connectors, and leave the LL120 fans connected to the Lighting Node Core.
