Regex to match "/" (Perl, but applies to all languages)

You need to "escape" the forward slash, this is typically done by placing a backwards slash (\) before the character you want to escape.

Most languages use forward slashes to delimit a regex. So the regex which matches any lowercase letter would be written as /[a-z]/

The problem is, I need a regex that will match a literal / character.  But if I write /// then it assumes that the second / is the end of the regex, and then throws an exception when it sees the third one.

 

How can I overcome this?

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.
