First build in years, dual xeon ofc (recommend me a gpu)

Budget (including currency): `1500USD

Country: USA, Singapore

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mainly Assetto Corsa Competizone in VR (Samsung HMD+ Odyssey), FIFA 21 (all future FIFA games), Rocket League, CSGO, Adobe Premiere, Blender

Other details  My monitor is an Acer Predator X34 so 3440 x 1440 100+ hz.

I'm mostly done with the idea, just want to ensure compatibility...

 

here's the rough part list:

2 x E5-2673 V2 (maybe E5-2667 V2 cos its $70 cheaper idk) $320/$180

2x used 240mm rads for each cpu (1 owned) $40

Supermicro X9DAX-iF EE-ATX motherboard $140 (can it bclk oc, even just a tiny bit?)

8 x 16GB DDR3-1866 LRDIMMS $200

Intel 660p 1TB NVME (already owned, can it NVME boot with a bios mod or maybe Clover?) $0

PCIE NVME adapter $10

Front panel power button, lights etc $5

FSP Aurum PT 1200W $100

Soundblaster G6X $120

TP-Link TX3000 $40

4TB HDD $40

some case fans to cool the motherboard $10

Case is just my shelf-rack and some electrical tape cos i literally cba to pay a fortune for a case since i have so much room anyways

 

 

around $700 for the rest of the PC

recommend me a graphics card for my use case and tell me if i am missing something (i don't mind bios modding it and overclocking the nuts out of it, in fact i would prefer that, also i'm a sucker for liquid cooled ones)

P.S. i really want to be able to watch my friends stream on discord while i play fifa with no input/ fps lag (impossible with my 9750H 2070 mobile laptop) (should i just pop in a spare Gt 640 i have?)

Why would you get dual xeons for gaming? Those games won't care how many cores you have. You also massively overpaying for those CPUs, you should be able to get a pair for a lot less than that. You shouldn't get two used AIOs, if you insist on dual CPUs you should slap some fat air coolers on them. I have no idea on the quality of that PSU, but 1200W for $100 seems a little sketch, and same deal for the HDD.

 

This is a really strange choice of parts, I'd love to hear the reasoning behind them.

Dual Xeon fans represent!

I run a pair of e5-2643 v2 and love it.

But back on point, GFX card prices are bonkers right now, and you will be paying close to 100% more than the card is worth. Personally, I'd hold off until after new years, when *maybe* supply chains ramp up and prices return to sanity.

Your games will run worse on dual xeons than on an equally priced Ryzen chip or i7.

pure fps is literally not that big of a concern in regards to buying a ryzen for the same price. $90 per cpu is pretty cheap if i go for the 2667 v2s. that psu is top of the ltt tier list. idk man i hate 6 core cpus. i got a 6 core laptop cpu with a 2070 mobile and i still lag playing fifa while watching a live stream. no problem with my old dual xeon build...

Adobe Premier will be happy with lots of cores. But yes, overall, as single CPUs increase in core count, the need for dual CPU systems fades, but half the fun of having a dual CPU/high core/thread count system, is finding way to use all that power, and simply not having another run of the mill ryzen 5 system, like everyone else has.

 

And yes, I have a Ryzen 5 2600, just like everyone else. Frankly, given all the hype for the Ryzen CPUs since they've come out, I"m a little underwhelmed. But that's my experience, I'm sure yours is quite different.

Since I know you just responded to a 30 minute video in 4 minutes...then do what you want, just know that it is not a wise use of money for price/performance and perhaps as a hobby/tinker around with old Xeons and gaming.

i've watched that video before, all the tech yes city ones as well. i've had dual xeons for years

The productivity apps he mentioned will benefit but the games won't run well. The fact he mentioned several games first and brought up his gaming monitor tells me that is mostly what the PC will be used for.

i mean it's true gaming is a big hobby, but i need blender and premiere pro for my college and part time business as well.

I think those would benefit more from a powerful GPU but don't quote me on that.

 

I would strongly suggest getting a Ryzen chip. Many cores will help, but the abysmal singlecore of your xeon(s) will make games chug. I don't even think you can OC on that mobo.
