Changed Monitor and Huge FPS drop in games?? Help

Indo_Canadian_

I recently upgraded my monitor to a 1440p LG 34" ultrawide 144hz from a 28" 4k 60hz. I used to be able to run minecraft at well over 300 fps, but now i can't run it over 25 fps unless I'm staring at the floor (Quite bad for a RTX 3080). I have also noticed other games have gotten laggier. I do now use that 28" 4k monitor as a second screen, but before the change I used to have a 1080p second screen and had not issues. Not sure how changing a monitor would affect the game performance so much.

I have tried all the usual troubleshooting methods like changing ports, updated drivers, and playing around with in-game settings. Nothing has worked. It would be great if y'all could help me out here.  Not sure if it is a cable issue, but I did use the included DP cable LG provided.

Specs

i7-5820k @ 4.5Ghz

RTX 3080

32 Gbs RAM

Windows 10

If you run the new monitor at 3840x2160, does your performance perk back up?

Just changing out a monitor shouldn't do that unless it's at a higher resolution

your cpu is being bottlenecked you need to up grade your cpu

If it was bottlenecked then how did it run better with the 4K monitor plugged in. If anything it should run better because there are less pixels to render.

I am waiting for a DP cable to come in as i am currently using an HDMI cable on the 4K monitor so it only runs at 30 fps now. And the lag is not fixed when I disconnect the ultra wide.

i wish i could run my 1440p monitor at 3840x2160. would be lovely.

Anyway, it does seem like your cpu is a bit of a bottleneck. But even then 25 fps is still too little even for a bottleneck. Do you run your game in fullscreen or borderless windowd/borders? Did you try an older version of mc? Like 1.15.blabla?

Do you have vsync on in mc?

You can. Turn on DSR in your driver, viola!

I have not tired an older version of mc because before i plugged in my new monitor. My 4k would run mc fine at native resolution over 300 fps. I can confirm Vsync is off
