Will the Windows installed on my old SSD interfere with the windows I install on my new SSD?

I will be reinstalling my Windows 10 on a new SSD. Do I have to first format the old one or can I install the Windows and use the registration key on the new SSD, then connet the old SSD with the old windows and just delete the Windows Folder and keep my user files?

Or should I move my user files (100 GB+) to a third drive, then format my old SSD and install the system on my new SSD?

Nope. It's just fine. :)I recommend unplugging all drives that aren't the drive you're actually installing Windows one, so you're sure nothing important accidentally gets installed on one of the other drives.

As long as you set boot priority to the new drive (done in Bios) then you will have no problems. When doing the fresh install on the new SSD I recommend unplugging all other drives, once you OS is loaded you can plug all the old drives back in.

Thanks guys! So after I connect back my old drives can I just delete the Windows and Program Files Folder to free up space?

You should copy everything you want to save to safety and format. There are actually a lot of locked files which are pain to remove (you need Linux or safe-mode to do it).

...or you can use some nice tools that helps you take ownership or even delete folders without any problem.

It all depends how much imporant files you have on your old drive.

 

If you change SSD to bigger one, you may just clone your existing installation and then format old drive, and you'll keep everything.
