My Wi-Fi is faster than my wired internet?

I have mobile broadband and use a 5G modem (5G CPE Pro 2 by Huawei) for 5G network.

 

I can plug an ethernet cable into the modem and plug it into my pc which has a Gigabit LAN port.

 

However, when I connect via Wi-Fi to the PC using an Asus AC3100 Dual-Band PCIe® Wi-Fi Adapter either to the normal 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz 5G network, both are faster than my Wi-Fi.

 

Does anyone know why? We are talking double the speed too.

Are you using an ancient ethernet cable by chance?

The modem probably has 100Mbps Ethernet-ports, instead of gigabit-ones.

 

EDIT: No, a quick Google-search suggests it has gigabit ports. I'd blame the Ethernet-cable, then.

Seems to have Gigabit, as least I assume that's what "GE" (Gigabit Ethernet?) stands for.

The ethernet cable is Cat 5E.

I notice the modem has to ethernet ports.
